I've been giving much thought lately to what the future may look like and, as I've been reading the bible (and other books), have been asking the Holy Spirit to speak to me and give me vision for the future.
One of the things that I really feel that God has been reminding me of is the sense of 'call' on my life and of my need to remain faithful to that. Earlier this year someone commented on this sense of call, implying that having quite firm ideas in relation to my future ministry is a negative. Over the last wee while I've been thinking a fair bit about this and remain convinced that 'my' ideas are not that at all, they are God's; it is Him who has called me and it is the vision that He gives to which I must remain faithful.
Of course this is not to say that the Holy Spirit will not lead me in new ways to which I must remain open, and I certainly hope that He will increase my vision as I seek to serve Him, but it is a reminder to me that first and foremost we serve the living God.
